Back from Oblivion

Iam back blogging after a hiatus which had no good reason other than laziness. Everything is just the same other than the few good pounds i have added. Like everyone i fail to understand how am i gaining weight :-)
Work and home has kept me busy as always. But nothing to keep me away from cooking cooking and cooking,. Stress burster, delight and what they say 'satisfaction guaranteed'. I bought a Morphy Richards Oven in December right on the eve of New Year which was a wonderful asset i added to my kitchen. Iam now experimenting baking and doling out delicious cakes and muffins. Iam proud that iam pretty good at it and we dont buy cakes any more for any occassion from the bakery.
There is a great advantage to know how to cook. One need not depend on anyone for satiating your hunger. You have so much fun and color in life, a huge platform to experiment. It gives you a huge autonomy; what you cant do at work you can do in your kitchen, you are the master. You have the same emotions as you have at work, a wonderful recipe would give you the same joy that you get after a project execution and a flop show is sure to make you upset.
Nevertheless you get a chance to play many roles in life when you cook....You are a designer, creator, decorator, project manager, model, kid and what not...
Cheers to food and good cooking!!!!
My friends plan to gather up at my place for some lessons on easy cooking or rather 'Cooking for Dummies'...With all this i do get serious ideas to start my cookery classes as well, but i wont teach how to cook a paneer butter masala or roganjosh, you may as well get it on the menu of every damn hotel in any city...but i may be able to help you with simple food that will make you and people around you say "Iam Lovin' it" !!! Welcome to Home cooking "ghar ka khana"...
People who read my blog, feel free to share your foodie comments and yes iam going to be regular in sharing my daily gastronomical delights as well....

New Tandoori Tadka Chennai...Whats new???

To take a friend out for a dinner promised long ago, me and my Husband decided to explore a new place and thought to take the route of reading some reviews on various blogs like this to chose the place. After some surfing we settled for a North Indian outlet called "New Tandoori Tadka" at T Nagar Chennai as we wanted to eat some North Indian food. It took us almost an hour to cruise thru the heavy traffic on a Saturday evening to reach the place and struggled another 15 min to pull our car towards the small parking area. The exterior of a building with Arun Icereams and Dindigul restaurant in the ground floor with New Tandoori Tadka on the first floor. A board that had Limca and Coco Cola AD which gave it a Pan Bidi shop look.

We took the steps and came to a very Punjabi kinda looking place with "charpiys" replacing the chairs and decently inhabited with a mix of north and southie faces. We got a welcome drink that was a pineapple juice (actually squash) followed by tandoori starters. Like any other usual restaurant it had more options for the carnivores with seekh kabab, chicken 65, malai kabab etc. However the veg starters tasted good, specially the tandoori cauliflower was done well with a good marinade and was succulent. Tandoori aloo, vegetable kebab, paneer tikka would certainly receive an 7/10. After 2 rounds of starters we moved to the decently spread Buffet. The main course was dampening after the sumptuous starters. The aloo was sour in dum aloo, Dal Malkhani was tasteless which tasted more of cornflour. The mutton in the Gosht Balls was a lil smelly and one wouldn't want to risk to have them, the biryani was very average and tasted exactly as we would reheat one from the refrigerator after 3 days. Desserts again were very average. The fruit custard looked repulsive so none of us ventured. We tried the carrot halwa which has a very wrong ice cream flavour, Pista to compliment it. Needless to mention the finger bowls were of glass and bigger than the serving bowls. Though our quest to try a new restaurant was quenched but we ceratinly cudnt give it its dew as we drove back with full unsatiated stomach...

To those who have a better luck than mine, hope you have a good and a "new" experience at "New Tandoori Tadka"

Intro to Teekha Tadka

I have a great passion for food...not only gorging but also fishing out some good simple tasty food..I dream a lot about food; of feasting myself on some deprived delicacies or even some of those that are unavailable in the part of country I now reside in..I eat 5-8 times a day and i want each of my meal to be good, healthy and delight to my eyes and tongue.. Fortunately i have been blessed with a husband who is a bigger foodie than iam...we together share a dream of innovation in food and treating a crowd some day...

I have traveled length and breadth of India and have experienced various types of food from dhabas to 5 star restaurants...I love experimenting new outlets every weekend or when i get an opportunity to eat out...I repent of not having started blogging earlier in life..i am sure it could have been an all India food guide...Better late than never...Here iam to pour out my appetite on Teekha Tadka all about food, my experiences with food and my dreams as well...
